Amrita Rao is a promising actress of the Bollywood already bagging seven awards and six nominations in her nearly five-year-old film career. A brand Ambassador of Miss Players, she like most other Hindi film actresses joined the big screen via modeling.

Born to a Marathi Brahmin father Deepak Rao and mother Nandita, Amrita Rao made her cinematic debut in Ab Ke Baras in 2002 and was nominated for the Star Screen Award for the Most Promising Newcomer.

Amrita Rao, however, got wide recognition for her second film Ishq Vishq in 2003. She won the IIFA Award for Best Female Debut, Stardust Award, Superstar of Tomorrow and Sansui Award Best Female Debut for the film.

Success followed her the next year with Masti and Mai Hoon Naa. She was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress for Mai Hoon Naa, which had Shah Rukh Khan in the lead male role. The film was a super hit. Luck looked the other way in her following films Deewar in 2004, Vah Life Ho To Aisa in 2005, Shikaar in 2005 and Pyare Mohan the same year. But she broke the jinx with the release of Vivah with Shahid Kapoor in the opposite in 2006.

Vivah showered praise from all corners and Amrita Rao won Anadalok Puroshkar Award for the Most Promising New Talent, Sports World Award for Best Actress and Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award for the film. The Hero Honda Star Screen Award also nominated her for Best Actress. Amrita Rao has three more movies slated for release in 2007. Those are Hook Ya Crook, Shortcut- The Con is On and Hey Bebby. In Hey Bebby, she is to appear in a dance sequence.

Amrita Rao is directors’ darling since she never makes fuss over characters. Despite her success in Vivah as a heroine, she never pesters for the lead role. This mature handling of the career is set to take her high in the future days.

After a very long time, we are back with some updates. Unfortunately as was mentioned at the start of the year, updates to this blog would be few and far between from now on. However there will be updates as and when they are possible.
